I am so ready for this coming weekend. I am starting today off with a Bachelorette Party for one of my best friends today and then the rest of the weekend I’m reserving for reading, relaxing, and catching up on a few things that I keep putting off. I think this year I am going to be enjoying the 4th even more because I am getting a 4 day weekend. So what are the best books to read this coming long weekend?
I have so many different books that I have checked out from the library, but I these three books are at the very top of my list. Now, let’s be real. The likeliness that I actually make it through all of these it pretty slim, but they are my best reads for 4th of July weekend.
Best Books for 4th of July Weekend
“Millennial women are changing what it means to be powerful and successful in the world–for everyone. Forever. You want The Big Life–that delicious cocktail of passion, career, work, ambition, respect, money and a monumental relationship. And you want it on your own terms. Forget climbing some corporate ladder, you want a career with twists and turns and adventure. For you, success only matters if it’s meaningful. Ann Shoket knows the evolving values of young women more than anyone. She’s the voice behind the popular Badass Babes community, a sisterhood of young, hungry, ambitious women who are helping each other through the most complex issues around becoming who you’re meant to be. As the trailblazing editor-in-chief of Seventeen for the better part of a decade, Shoket lead provocative conversations that helped young women navigate the tricky terrain of adolescence and become smart, confident, self-assured young women. Now that they are adding muscle to the framework of their lives, she’s continuing the conversation with The Big Life.” – Amazon
“In almost every interview she gives, Kate Hudson is asked the same questions: What do you eat? How do you stay so fit? What workout do you do? What’s your secret? Well, the secret is that the sound bites the media loves so much don’t tell the story, and the steps you need to take to have a healthy, vibrant and happy life can’t be captured in a short interview. The key to living well, and healthy, is to plug into what your body needs, understanding that one size does not fit all, all the time, and being truly honest with yourself about your goals and desires.” – Amazon
“For decades, we’ve been told that positive thinking is the key to a happy, rich life. “F**k positivity,” Mark Manson says. “Let’s be honest, shit is f**ked and we have to live with it.” In his wildly popular Internet blog, Manson doesn’t sugarcoat or equivocate. He tells it like it is—a dose of raw, refreshing, honest truth that is sorely lacking today. The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F**k is his antidote to the coddling, let’s-all-feel-good mindset that has infected American society and spoiled a generation, rewarding them with gold medals just for showing up.” – Amazon
